Just back from a wonderful 3-day AZ trip. Highlights included 4 Rufous-backed Robins, 6 species of thrasher including Brown, an immature Chestnut-sided Warbler, Rusty Blackbird, McCown’s Longspur, Mountain Plover and a lovely Solitary Sandpiper (always a favorite of mine, even through not particularly rare). We finished with 111 species.
This first-year Chestnut-sided Warbler was at Sweetwater Wetlands in Tucson off the parking lot.
The most-photographed Solitary Warbler Sandpiper this winter season also came from Sweetwater Wetlands.
While this Curve-billed Thrasher performed for me in the waning light, his buddy, a Brown Thrasher didn’t. That explains the suboptimal shot below.
Lark Buntings are always high on my list to see and photograph. Especially their varying plumages. Many were to be found near the Red Rock feedlot.
Kennedy Park in Tucson yielded several Redhead, but the Cave Swallow was nowhere to be found.
The Anthem Community Park had 2 long-staying visitors. The first one is a Rufous-backed Robin.
The other one is a Rusty Blackbird.
